In celebrating historical women all over the world we must not forget the fashionistas. We can’t let this month end without shining the light on some of the women who has and still are slayin the way in fashion for us beauties!
Let’s begin with some classics. These looks are still around today, and these women werrrrked these looks.
Dorothy Dandridge is serving us off the shoulder glam. This look is iconic, not to mention she is rockin that iconic hairstyle is the last photo at the bottom right. It’s an all around look!Pam Grier is giving is 70 vibes, with a bit of skin. The slit will always make you feel grand. Pam is servin face as well, it’s something you can wear for different occasions without feeling like you’re “over dressed,” or that’s just me, you can never be over dressed in my eyes.
Eartha Kitt, let’s get to it! This mermaid dress is everything. It’s current, and it can be easily recreated. Ms. Kitt is definitely showin out in this dress, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Josephine Baker is glowing in this sequined gown. The fit is perfect and her headdress takes the cake!Grace Jones is so absolutely stunning. I love all black attire because you have to really know how to work black garb for me to see the potential in it. Check out the sleeves, even the shaw is amazing.
Erykah Badu is one of my favorite because her fashion is effortless, yet so meaningful. This dress here is an amazing statement, and could be worn anytime if you ask me. Badu never disappoints when it comes to fashion.
Diana Ross, was an still is a fashion icon. Her figure was also outstanding, it made the clothes what they were. She exudes elegance and poise to any outfit she wears.
Naomi Campbell is one of the OGs of fashion. From runways to photo shoots, Naomi is always serving face and fashion.Aaliyah is one of my faves because she exudes beauty, and her style was impeccable. The loose pants were always my favorite look on her because it gave her an edgy look on my opinion.
Forever My First Lady, Michelle Obama. One of the classiest and stylish Flotus’ of my time. As flotus she gave us shoulders in a lot of her dresses. I will say First Lady gave looks when Obama was in office, nothing like we’ve ever seen before.
Iman, another one of my favorite fashion models. She definitely has a great eye for fashion, and she serves face on a platter. This look is so “rich black woman”, (I make this reference when ever a black woman has on fur of any kind!). She’s definitely a vibe, this is me in the mirror after a shower, unbothered and extra af!
Zendaya is super bold for this outfit. I love it because she wore this so well. Women can wear things that men cannot. I once saw a man trying to wear shorts and a blazer and it didn’t work out for him at all, but this is super cute on Zendaya.
Yara Shahidi is the truth of this generation. I love her sense of style on Grown-ish, and her red carpet looks. She definitely understands fashion and creating her own looks. For example, this look here is simple, yet little to no one would be able to rock this better than she would.
